Official Satanic Mechanic Shirt

When Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen decided to offer an exquisite smattering of vintage clothing alongside their typically minimalist spring collection on The Row’s e-commerce site in January of this year, there was only one woman they trusted to co-curate it: Marie Blanchet. French-born, raven-haired and loquacious, the Official Satanic Mechanic Shirt but in fact I love this Vestiaire Collective and William Vintage alum is a vintage hunter par excellence. Having launched her own company, Mon Vintage, in November 2020, she almost immediately set about sourcing past-decade exemplars from Chanel, Comme des Garçons and Issey Miyake in collaboration with Mary-Kate Olsen. Now, she’s got Paris in her sights. On 22 September, Blanchet is launching what she calls the largest vintage edit within a department store in the world, when she takes over the entirety of the seventh floor of the fabled Printemps Haussmann. Over 1,300 restored and authenticated pieces – from Versace bondage suits to Chloé tiger-embroidered jeans courtesy of Phoebe Philo’s tenure – will populate the racks in the newly renovated 10,000 plus square-foot space, just in time for Paris Fashion Week. The Mon Vintage edit, which spans a broad price range from the collectible to the affordable, comprises pieces Blanchet believes “say something about fashion now,” but are also endlessly wearable. It’s a treasure trove for Gaultier obsessives in particular. “We took a bit of a leap of faith, and we found an amazing Jean Paul Gaultier collection from just one woman’s wardrobe,” recounts Blanchet. “She had a real range of pieces from the more affordable up to the top, top show items.” A highlight: the JPG cameo necklace from the spring 1998 collection titled “Hommage à Frida Kahlo”, which Madonna wore in the opening scene of her 1998 music video for “Frozen”.Instagram content
